Let’s be honest. We want to make sure this generation of kids grows up to be healthy, smart, fit and fabulous. Since toys, games and kids sporting goods are a part of the tools to help kids reach these goals, let’s take a peek at some of the newest fitness and brain fitness products being launched at the #Spielwarenmesse International Toy Fair in Nurnberg, Germany.
Moving outdoors for fitness and active play is encouraged by society and by a desire for a more direct hands-on approach to individual health and fitness. Most kids enjoy the outdoors, especially when they can engage in fun sports activities that involve personal challenges and some competition.
New categories of product that are showing growth include stunt scooters (Razor USA/Universal Trends Black Label, and Rockboard Original and RBX models, ), wave-scooters (Street Surfing Wave-Scooter), skate systems (Hudora Gmbh “Free Style-Twin Skates” or LA Sport), balance trikes, pogo sticks (Alex USA) and even unicycles (Puky Gmbh & Co, ER 16 unicycle with telescoping saddle seat).
Even the youngest kids are encouraged to be sporty, with the 2012 ToyAward winner, in the Category Baby&Infant (0-2 years). The Mini Micro with Seat/ Micro Mobility Systems Ltd. is a scooter that grows with the child. Even one-year-olds can take their first ride on these kid-sized rollers, which can be converted to a “real” roller later on. The roller in cool Micro design is controlled by the child shifting its weight, which also develops the child’s motor skills and their sense of balance. Other positive side effects are the sense of self-esteem and confidence the toddler gains, and that contagious grin of glee.

These are just a few of the products that will engage kids and get them up and moving, to build more active choices into their everyday lifestyles.
